All of us have our daily ups and downs with some days really down and other days we are full of life. But those suffering from this mental illness called bipolar disorder, their good days are really high and their low days very, very low. Individuals with symptoms of bipolar disorder can have problems with their work, their school performance, relationships can nosedive and their day to day activities disrupted. Bipolar disorder is a treatable disease, but a lot of patients are not able to recognize the warning signs and get immediate help. It must be noted that this mental disorder can get worse if its not treated on time. Therefore it is important to know and learn the symptoms and seek help immediately. In other words relatives and friends must be able to recognize the symptoms for it is the way forward to getting bipolar symptoms under control.

The Greek physician Hippocrates called depression, melancholia (a black bile). It is a clinical depression, a serious medical disorder that is negative in nature and affects our feelings, thinking and our actions. Followed by bipolar manic episodes, bipolar disorder is characterized by thoughts and mood disorders with long periods of depression. Periods of depression or mania may last from just a few months to one whole year, this will depend on each individual. Bipolar manic patients can sometimes be referred to as mania or hypo mania (not a severe form of mania). With those with hypo mania, victims may be easily irritated, very sensitive and have a severe elevated mood. People with mania symptoms have big plans, involving themselves in several projects and very talkative. The high risk for those bipolar manic victims is the use of alcohol or cocaine.

A distressing feeling in the mind, emotional pain can be experienced through the loss of someone we love so much. These emotional experiences can arise from the mind causing depression, fear of something, anxiety, guilt or disappointment . These traumatic experiences for those reliving or the replay of these past traumas can become crippling. These can effect moods, our relationship with others, professional and our personal life. One of the worst things about these experiences is it occupies the mind for a long time. We meet a lot of cultures, where there is this nasty stigma that is stuck to the phrase “mental illness, bipolar victim or Im a Psycho.” If people hear you have a “mental illness” or tell them “Hi! I’m bipolar!” their first reaction can be shown in their eyes and then their body. Without thinking their body language will be slightly tense and tend to back away. In some cases even people who you consider to be friends tell you that they cannot handle it and leave after the disclosure. But there are others who will stick by your side through the nightmares that occasionally rear its ugly head. Adolescent bipolar victims need to stick with these friends who will stay in there for the good times and when bipolar symptoms are showing its worst effects.
Bipolar 2 Patient And Its Symptoms
Most of us are familiar with bipolar in general but not many know or have any idea about bipolar 2 or type 2 and its symptoms. According to the definition of (DSM-IV), Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, type 2 disorders comprise of one or more highly persistent depressions accompanied by at least one hypomania or elevated mood. One of the key differences between disorder 1 and 2 is that the latter reaches only the level of hypomania but not the mania episodes. If you experience severe manic episodes you are probably in category one.
